Merlin looks one headline away from a clearer public proof point: funded integration and ground test on the C-130J path, or a dated large-aircraft civil-cert milestone that replaces the small-aircraft file it closed.
The company already has a named defense spine (USSOCOM C-130J IDIQ with PDR and CDR done), a large cash balance relative to early revenue, and partners (GE, Textron concept, IAI MOU) that keep it in front of operators and regulators. What remains missing in the public award record, as pulled 4–5 Oct 2026, is a funded successor order after the design-phase task that ended 31 Jul 2026.
